Windows Media Digital Rights Management (DRM).

If you own one of iDevices (iPhone / iPod Touch) and you're familiar with term "jailbreak" then you've probably heard of George Hotz aka Geohot, the guy who put a lot of his knowledge and efforts to bring us tools such as blackra1n, purplera1n, sn0w unlock, etc, etc... Well that same guy got his hands on PS3 and is in process to hack it, and claims he found an exploit so we'll be able to run PS3 "backup games" and (possible) homebrew appz... True? Lie? We have to wait and see, but judging from his previous work he never lied, so keep your eyes on him...

Mini music label Blue Destiny Records has sued both Google and Microsoft for allegedly "facilitating and enabling" the illegal distribution of copyrighted songs.
Filed on Monday with a US federal court in Northern Florida, the suit is an attempt to choke off the distribution of Blue Destiny tunes on the Germany-based file-sharing service RapidShare, also named as a defendant. It accuses RapidShare of knowingly running "a distribution center for unlawful copies of copyrighted works," while claiming that Google and Microsoft are propping the company up.
According to the suit, RapidShare benefits from ad relationships with the two search giants. "RapidShare generates revenue by selling subscriptions for its high-speed download services, and through advertising dollars generated by its advertising partnerships with Google and Microsoft," the suit reads. "RapidShare's business success is accomplished only with the knowing assistance of these two top search engines - Google and Microsoft's Bing."

Seagate have finally joined the SSD segment with their first solid-state drive. The Seagate Pulsar packs up to 200GB of SLC flash memory into a 2.5-inch enclosure, and the company are claiming 240MB/s sequential read and 200 MB/s sequential write speeds.
The Pulsar has a SATA interface and Seagate have squeezed in some power loss protection so that, even if your system loses power, you'll hopefully not lose everything you were working on. They're also quoting a 0.44 percent AFR (average failure rate).

More than 15,000 Brits who the music and film industries claim are 'pirates' may soon get legal letters accusing them of illegally sharing tunes, movies and games.
The letters are going to be sent out by ACS:Law next year and will tell the alleged filesharers to settle out of court for between £300 to £500 apiece or it will drag them before the beak in an embarrassing court case.

Posted: NewsBot @ Sat Nov 21, 2009 11:35 pm
Usenet is a not so popular method of obtaining new scene releases, but it's actually one of the faster and more convenient. All you need is a NZB file, which is often linked with new posts here at Releaselog (or you can search the files directly as well). There are virtually hundreds of different Usenet providers, but if you want to try this service for the first time and enjoy some advanced functions, Binverse is a good place to start.
Binverse offers a completely FREE 14-day trial, to try their service. The service offers two methods of downloads - unlimited downloads capped at 1 Mbps or Full speed downloads with data cap of 30 GB a month. All you need to activate the free 14-day trial is to register and submit your credit card or PayPal details. You can cancel the service at anytime before the end of trial without being charged, or you can continue paying $14.99 a month for the service afterwards.
With Binverse, you can access over 5 new Terabytes per day of new files and messages. Binverse will also provide you with a special Usenet client with features as Usenet search, built in RAR / PAR support for dealing with large compressed files, intergrated chat, email alerts and many more. There's really nothing to lose, if you won't like it, you can just cancel it.
Announcement: ZitZot: PlayStation 3 US sales up 70%

After years of third-stringing it, Sony's beleaguered PS3 may finally be rallying, according to sales data cited on Sony's US PlayStation blog. The company's American division reports year-over-year October hardware sales lifted nearly 70 percent, and says its online PlayStation storefront clinched record revenues, with downloads up 60 percent over the same period last year.
SCEA claims some 650 million pieces of content have been downloaded worldwide, though-just weighing in here-that's really more of a talking point figure, since it mixes 'free' with 'paid-for' content. It's one of these 'dazzling' numbers arrived at by jackhammering a slab of data into the tiniest possible fragments, a bit like claiming the PSP Go has '16,000 pieces of downloadable content'-technically accurate, but mostly comprised of the 13,300 individual TV episodes available.
